Interesting how you are feeling the encroachment of new people moving into the city. I’ve lived in the same place all my life. I remember when there were no office buildings and everything was flat. Now my area is almost a city. I probably would have felt that years and years ago but I was too young to notice. As an adult I do notice the larger amount of people and traffic. Things change. You may get used to it without noticing.
Growth is a huge concern for my area. I live in Boise, Idaho. Right now, there is a huge influx of Californians moving into the area, and I am not too thrilled about it. It is sad to see the farm land disappear and be turned into characterless houses that all look the same. The crime has gotten much worse since the influx began. Gang activity and drug use has worsened. Drugs have always been here, but now it is getting real bad. Housing has gotten rediculously expensive. What bothers me the most is how many of the new people want to turn Idaho into New California. Our laws, which there are some that I agree need to change, because they are fucked up, are here because we have a certain way of life. We are not California, nor do we want to be. We do not need the fricken atheists to come and tell us to take down the cross that has been up at Table Rock for years. If they don’t like it, they can go the fuck back to California. But, our antihomosexual laws need to change. While the attitude is slowly getting better, the more open minded California mindset is helping matters. I just wish that they would leave us alone on other matters. Kinda selfish of me, I know. But I never claimed not to be just a little bit selfish.
