  1. I think the “Customer is always right” thing depends on who you are. If you are the customer then you probably think that rule should be but if you are the employee, you probably think that rule shouldn’t be. Hmm…maybe I’m thinking too much.

  2. True…but it just can’t go both ways, Archerr. I’ve been on both sides of the counter, and I think a little bit of humility and compassion from all folks concerned would go a looong way toward making the world a kinder place in which to live.

I agree with a lot of what you were saying Joe in terms of the old customer is always right creating resentment on both sides and forging a situation in which the nice customers are victims to the disgruntled bitterness of employees who in turn are victims to ass hole customers who get off on being assholes because they know damn well the employee can’t defend themselves lest they put their jobs in jeopardy. Its a big ugly circle.

    I will also tell you that here in Jersey, if you are not hard and showing no fear as a customer – in many situations the employee will eat your head and send the rest of your appendages to you in garbage bags over a period of months. So you’re either aggressive yourself or you get stomped on but good. This is an unusually aggressive area. Your observations did shed some light on the confusing dynamics that occur so often here between employees and customers though…
